Call for communications
One of the most important acts of speleology is probably the topography. An underground exploration only really exists with the production of a map, and its publication gives birth to the cave as an object of study, knowledge and sharing. From the first representations until today, the techniques of underground topography have improved, offering new images of caves and karst.
The development of 3D technologies (computer science, software development, laser scanning, photogrammetry) has also profoundly renewed topographic work. Finally, the analysis of topography, speleometry, syntheses, publication and organization of documents (with databases) now offer new perspectives for study and understanding karst systems.
The symposium will welcome proposals for papers on the following topics: Topographic techniques and methods, Topographic analysis and speleometry, Exokarst and endokarst mapping, Documentation and data sharing.
Two special sessions are proposed: Topography & 3D and Database & Computing. They are open and all contributions are welcome on these themes. Symposium 9 is linked to the Summer school “Cave, karst & 3D – map the underground worlds” which will take place the week before the congress in Ardèche
